PLANS for a 62-bedroom 'home from home' for families to use while their children are in hospital have been approved by the city council.
A new Ronald McDonald House will be built at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Headley Way.
The four-storey build will hold 248 beds in 62 bedrooms, which is one room for every four children in hospital.
The application was approved unanimously by Oxford City Council yesterday evening.
Anne Ward of Ronald McDonald House said after the meeting: "This is brilliant news. It's wonderful for the families that we are not able to help at the moment.
"The next stage is to look art how we can pay for it."
There is already one Ronald McDonald House in Oxford, which provides families a comfortable place to sleep, eat and wash while their children are in hospital.
