ONE of nature's smallest creatures was celebrated at a festival in Oxford
For the second year running, St Frideswide's Church in Botley Road held the West Oxford Bee Festival.
Residents enjoyed flower stalls and bee produce on Saturday while the children were able to make their very own bees.
Four-year-old Sophie Potgieter was dressed as a bumble bee and her mum, Joey Potgieter, said it was a wonderful way to raise awareness of the insect.
The mother-of-two from Oxford said: "It is a lovely way for the community to come together.
"And it has been a great learning curve for us all and the importance of protecting these small insects."
Assistant priest Martin Henig said the church had wanted to host the event to show that the facility was not just for people attending regular service.
He said: "The church is here for everyone and we feel that this kind of event will show that.
"We really want to improve the churchyard to make it more inviting, and if we're planting more wild flowers, hopefully it will encourage the bees to come along."
