Rabbits are welcome at the Botanic Garden as students from the Oxford School of Drama stage a production of Watership Down.

Students are putting on an open air performance of the Richard Adams novel at the Botanic Garden, off Rose Lane, Oxford - the first time a theatre production has taken place there.

School principal George Peck said: "I can't think of a better place than the Garden to do this production in terms of scene and atmosphere."

Audience members will move around the Botanic Garden while the production of Watership Down - which alternates with a production of the George Orwell novel Animal Farm - takes place.

Mr Peck said: "We will take the audience on a tour of the garden as the performance takes place, so not only will they get the chance to see the performance, they also get to see the beautiful grounds."

Performances of Watership Down and Animal Farm will be taking place until Saturday, June 16.
