A woman who studied for her O- and A-Level exams at Burford School is coming back to be its new headteacher.
Kathryn Haig, currently first deputy head at Ellesmere Port Catholic High School in Cheshire, takes over the 1,200 pupil west Oxfordshire secondary in January.
She replaces Patrick Sanders who leaves at Christmas after 12 years in the school's top job.
Chairman of governors Malcolm Harper said: "We had a very strong field of candidates. However, the governors decided unanimously on Kathryn and we are much looking forward to working with her."
