Art and science come together in Christopher Parkin's splendid exhibition now on show at the Said Business School gallery. Influenced by Christopher's parallel interest in both the history and philosophy of science, stimulated by a year's post-graduate study at Imperial College of Science, Medicine and Technology where he completed his Masters' degree, this remarkable artist has come up with a series of startling images.

With titles such as Turbulence (pictured), A Measured Universe, Equivalent Twisting Moment and Galileo's Vision, Christopher takes us into an astonishing world created by a mix of oil, acrylic and collage on large panels. The result of his labours is quite mesmerising. His pictures cry out to be viewed as they are crammed with shapes and colours.

The recurrent theme that runs through them all is the contrast between aspects of measurement, quantification and mechanisation, characteristic of modern science and the more elusive chaotic process which escapes precise definition.

Christopher works at the Museum of the History of Science as an Education Officer, and paints in his spare time at the moment. This is his first solo exhibition in Oxford. It continues until Thursday from 10am to 4pm (excluding Sunday).
