I refer to your story, Secret homes list drawn up (Oxford Mail, June 1). To the employees of Oxfordshire County Council, this list is not secret. They have been worried about their employment status for some weeks.

I represent Shotover View day care centre in Cowley, Oxford, and the staff there have already seen the place changing.

The laundry service on site is running down and staff have been notified of moving to another site.

The day visitors have been told that they will be provided for at another site in the future.

This centre covers land worth a fortune to the county council for redevelopment to houses or flats or both.

The day visitors love this centre and its great staff who care very much for their well-being.

They have written to the Oxford Mail before praising the care they receive there.

Why is the so-caring county council even contemplating closing this well-managed site?

The council says that "sites with future potential are given consideration, but that they are not proposals for sale or redevelopment". Oh yes they are, I say.

The council should look at the feelings of the elderly and all who look after them, before putting their lives before monetary gain.
