VANDALS caused thousands of pounds damage to a sports centre and other play facilities in Carterton.
The centre in Broadshires Way has been the worst hit in a spate of vandalism dating back to April. The cost of replacing large windows at the centre's swimming pool, which have been smashed twice, is more than £5,000.
Graffiti has also been smeared over part of the building and lighting on the roof deliberately broken.
The latest incident was last Friday when cross beams on two of the hockey goals on the nearby artificial turf pitch were snapped. That alone will cost several hundred pounds to repair.
Part of the pitch has also been vandalised, once with fire, left, and the pavilion and play area in Trefoil Way attacked.
Signs have now been put up urging people to report vandalism anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
