A lorry driver has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after an Oxford man in his early 20s was taken to hospital.
The collision happened on the M40 Northbound near the Oxford junction just after 3am this morning.
A Volkswagen Golf had been hit and its driver - a man in his early 20s from Oxford - was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, police said.
Thames Valley Police attended and after discovering a damaged lorry further up the road, arrested a man on suspicion of drink driving.
Two lanes of the M40 were closed for three hours but re-opened just before 6.30am.
