OXFORD: Andrew Gant has been elected the leader of the Liberal Democrat group on Oxford City Council.
Elizabeth Wade will be deputy leader, the party decided on Saturday.
It held all its eight seats in last week’s elections, which saw the Green Party lose two to the controlling Labour party.
Jean Fooks, the former Lib Dem leader, will continue as a city councillor for Summertown.
The Lib Dems have eight seats on the city council and are the second-largest group behind the ruling Labour administration.
