DETECTIVES are continuing to talk to a teenage girl who told police she was sexually assaulted at Gloucester Green in Oxford at the weekend.

The alleged incident happened at 11.30pm on Saturday in the alleyway linking Gloucester Green and the bus station near Harveys sandwich bar.

The woman reported the serious sexual assault shortly after midnight and on Sunday police cordoned off the area to search for clues.

Scenes-of-crime officers taped off the crime scene and carried out a forensic search of the area, which included a block of toilets.

Thames Valley Police spokesman Toby Shergold said: "Our officers are still talking to the teenager to build up a detailed picture of what happened.

"We want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who might have seen something and we are checking CCTV footage to see if that shows anything."

No one has been arrested in connection with the attack and police say they are not linking the attack to similar incidents in Oxford.

On March 20, a 19-year-old woman was raped in an alleyway, off Market Street in the city centre during the early hours. A man was arrested and released on police bail.

On March 8, a Chinese student was sexually assaulted in North Oxford. The woman noticed someone following her at the junction of Bradmore Road and Crick Road.

She was grabbed but she screamed, and after a struggle the attacker ran off towards Banbury Road.
