A seven vehicle crash on the M40 in which one man person died has caused chaos for thousands of motorists.

The incident happened this morning between junctions four and 1A and police closed the southbound carriageway.

Seven vehicles were involved in the crash and one person has died, several people have been injured and have been taken to Wexham Park Hospital.

A man has been arrested at the scene and is currently in police custody.

Traffic is being diverted on to the A40 but there are extensive tailbacks and motorists are being advised to avoid the area for the foreseeable future.
