HOT hatch racer Alex Dew, of Bampton, dominated the latest round of the Hot Hatch Championship to take his first win of the season.

The win at Brands Hatch, followed a second place and new lap record at the super fast circuit of Castle Combe in Wiltshire.

Dew, 21, said: "After testing a new set-up on Friday with JTECH Automotive, we knew the car was quick, setting a time which was almost half-a-second faster than last year's pole and winning time.

"After smashing last year's pole time with a new lap record, the race went exactly to plan."

Dew dominated the race from start to finish, setting consistently fast times and eventually taking the chequered flag by more than four seconds.

He now goes into the next round at Pembury in Wales with more than 45 kg success ballast, and lying only one point adrift of the championship lead.
