A man attempted to sexually assault a young women in the Headington area yesterday.

The 21-year-old victim was walking on Headington Hill between 5am and 6am yesterday.

She was grabbed from behind by a man, believed to be aged between 30 and 40, who then dragged her into Headington Hill Park. 

The offender attempted to grab the women's leggings, causing her to scream. 

He then ran from the scene towards Cheney Lane. 

This offence is being linked to two incidents in which a man exposed himself to members of the public.

The first incident was in Old Road at about 2.30pm on Wednesday, March 30.

The second offence occurred in Pullens Lane at about 11am on Thursday, April 7.

Investigating officer, Det Insp Jim Holmes of Force CID based at Oxford, said: “I would like to reassure the public that we are conducting a thorough investigation into this attempted sexual assault, which we are linking to two exposures in the city.

“There will be an increased police presence in the Headington Hill Park area as we conduct extra patrols. If any members of the public have concerns please speak to an officer or PCSO.

“I would appeal to anyone who saw or heard anything they thought was unusual in the vicinity of Headington Hill Park between about 5am and 6am yesterday to contact police immediately.
