WITH the Oxford Mail's OX5 Run just five days away more businesses are limbering up to raise money for Oxford Children's Hospital.

Witney-based Siemens Magnet technology will be joining more than 900 people on the start line on Sunday to tackle the five-mile Blenheim Palace course.

The firm, which manufacture superconducting magnets in MRI systems used for medical scans, has assembled a large team to raise money.

Managing director Craig Marshall said: "The OX5 is a great team building event which we at Siemens Magnet technology are proud to support which helps to raise thousands of pounds for the Oxford Children’s Hospital.

"As a healthcare business the association to the hospital gives some added relevance which helps to ensure we have a strong team each year.

"As the managing director of a large and complex business I occasionally feel like I have been running round in circles.

"Although the run is literally running round in a circle it is the perfect antidote to what goes on in the office."

The OX5, on Sunday April 17, is being sponsored by recruitment firm Allen Associates for the eighth year.

Last year’s event raised £106,000 for the children’s hospital and the run, which is now in its 14th year, has chalked up more than £850,000.

The money raised is used to fund medical equipment and other aspects of children’s care.
