A BURGLAR who broke into six homes in one day is being hunted by police.

In each of the six break-ins in West Oxfordshire on Thursday of last week the burglar got through a door or ground floor window and stole items including mostly jewellery.

Officers investigating the break-ins believe they are linked.

Police are now appealing for information on a man described as white, in his 40s or 50s, tall, stocky, with a green carrier bag, wearing a navy blue top and blue jeans and a white sailing-style peaked cap.

DS Craig Kirby, of Witney police station, said: "I hope someone will have seen a suspicious individual hanging around a day of two beforehand or on Thursday itself.

"We are linking all these burglaries and I hope that members of the public will help us by coming forward with information that might be relevant."

The burglaries took place in Park Lane and Main Road in Long Hanborough, Woodstock Road, Witney Road and Wroslyn Road in Witney and The Tennis in Cassington.

Anyone with information should contact DS Kirby on 0845 8 505505 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
