Oxfordshire captain Ian Hawtin is looking for a simple passage into the Minor Counties Trophy semi-finals when they host Wiltshire in their first ever competitive match at Radley College on Sunday (11), writes Ed Mezzetti.

The Group 4 table shows Oxon have a sizeable net runrate advantage, so they should finish top if they avoid a heavy defeat.

But Hawtin does not want to be relying on a calculator to qualify.

"We'll be going out to win, not just to play conservatively," said Hawtin."If we win the game then runrate doesn't come into it. We will have more points than anyone else. "The way we haev been playing, everybody should be confident.

"We've got a good balance to the side with plenty of batsmen and bowlers."

Should Oxon top the table, they will have a home semi-final against the winners of Group 2, likely to be Norfolk or Suffolk, on July 1.

Oxfordshire make two changes from the side selected for their rain-abandoned clash with Hertfordshire.

Oxford batsman Adam replaces the unavailable Rob Williams, while Kidlington captain Dave Taylor comes in for Keith Arnold.

This means Ian Crosby keeps his place despite being dropped to Oxford's second team.

Hawtin said: "Ian has been playing very well for us. He is in form, so we've kept faith in him."

Radley, who produced the likes of England captains Ted Dexter and Andrew Strauss plus current one-day international Jamie Dalrymple, have never hosted the county before.

Before the 1971 county boundary changes, the school was in Berkshire.
