I was dismayed by the one-sided coverage of the misguided operation by police to fine cyclists jumping red lights at the junction of Parks Road and Broad Street. This has obviously been spearheaded to assuage the indignation felt by frustrated motorists that other non-polluting road users are able to progress at a faster rate than them, and as a money-making excuse. This was absolutely not a safety exercise.

Research has recently concluded that cyclists are safer crossing junctions ahead of motorised transport, even if the lights are still red. I found it in extreme bad taste for the police to choose the very junction where Tsz Fok was killed.
