I AM a taxi driver myself and have worked with various companies over the past three years.
I would love to have Uber coming into Oxford (Oxford Mail, February 27) as they treat their drivers very well.
Current companies are not fair to owner drivers at all. They own plenty of cars themselves which they rent out to drivers and most of the work is given to those cars as they want their own cars running on the road, no matter what. Owner drivers are given leftover jobs.
Although we pay their wages by paying weekly base rent, still we get treated like employees.
With Uber, the concept is different. They call us partners and there is no buffer between customers and drivers so it’s a very fair system where the nearest driver gets the job.
Good for customers and good for drivers as well.
