More than 300 people turned up to watch a performance of the play Lark Rise at Juniper Hill on Saturday.
The event was held to mark the 60th anniversary of the death of writer Flora Thompson. The drama was adapted from her book Lark Rise to Candleford, about country life in Oxfordshire in the 1880s.
The author was born in the village, north of Bicester, and event organiser Ted Flaxman said members of the audience had travelled from around the world for the sell-out event.
The play was staged thanks to grants from the Lottery and Cherwell District Council, while the music was provided by Garsington and Wheatley Barnstormers.
Keith Dewhurst, who wrote the play in 1978, attended and was presented with a framed certificate to mark the day.
