I missed the letter from John Webb about Radio Oxford, Hands off the ladies (Oxford Mail, May 12), as I was away, but I was given a press cutting on my return by a lady.

I love the ladies in my life and get on very well with them. If God created anything better, then He kept it to Himself.

However, I agree I could not stand Anne Diamond. Many readers of the Oxford Mail concurred - at the time, the Oxford Mail published two full pages of letters and not one correspondent supported her.

I am certainly not gunning for Shabina Akhtar, for I'm sure she is a very personable young lady.

My only complaint is that she talks too fast and likes the sound of her own voice.

Perhaps that is a qualification to be a radio presenter.

She has admitted this on air, to her credit, and in fact one of her prizes is a set of chattering false teeth which she admits represent her. I like that sense of humour.

I think Sybil Ruscoe is great and I'm so pleased she is back.

Overall, the station editor has a good mix of programmes, but I was sorry when Tim Bearder lost his early morning slot. He was a breath of fresh air and very original.

Radio Oxford's coverage of Oxford United is excellent and I would point out to Mr Webb I have supported Oxford United since they were Headington United and played at the Manor.

Lastly, if I'm the Witney Whinger, then so be it.

It's the whingers in life who try to get things changed. Far better than sitting back and being complacent.
