A fab four-figure sum raised by a Beatles-mad woman from Didcot will go a long way towards helping a children's charity.

Customer service worker Jo Lovelock organised a Beatles tribute concert last month, raising more than £3,500 to support disabled and disadvantaged children.

Beatlemania hit Didcot Civic Hall, as around 240 people packed out the venue. They twisted and shouted the night away, while a tribute act performed some classic Beatles' songs from the 60s.

The 39-year-old fundraiser has organised six concerts and raised a total of £25,000, since her brother-in-law Paul Lovelock died of cancer in 2000.

She planned her first concert with husband Allan and friend Shirley McGibbon to make money for the hospice where Paul received care.

The fundraising team was inspired by the staff of national charity Wooden Spoon, the official charity of her employers - Milton-based express delivery giant TNT.

Wooden Spoon is the official charity of the four rugby union home nations, so ex-England and Leicester Tigers hero Tim Stimpson was on hand to accept Mrs Locklock's cheque on its behalf.

Mr Stimpson is pictured playing the drums while Mr and Mrs Lovelock look on. Geoff Morris, Wooden Spoon chief executive, said: "We are always thrilled and delighted at the ingenuity and determination of TNT's employees in their efforts to support what we are trying to do to enhance the quality of life of thousands of youngsters.

"I'd like to add my personal thanks to Jo and Allan for thinking of Spoon and raising such a magnificent sum."
