LITTLE witches and wizards in Oxfordshire are preparing to don their robes and enter the magical world of Hogwarts for Harry Potter Book Night.

Venues across the county are laying on a spellbinding array of activities, games and ghoulishly good fun today as part of a national celebration of the bestselling book series.

At The Story Museum, pictured, staff will host a 'Most Unusual Quiz' with visitors invited to sample Butterbeer and enter their name into the Goblet of Fire.

Magician and front of house manager Duncan Saunders said: "I’ve been brushing up on my magic spells for the special Harry Potter-themed quiz night and we’ve been perfecting our recipe for Butterbeer which we’ll be selling at the bar.

"We’re even going to have our own version of the Triwizard Tournament with a prize of 1,000 Galleons, or nearest chocolate equivalent. It should be a great night out for Potter fans and hopefully there won’t be too many Howlers during the night.”

Elsewhere in Oxford youngsters are invited to dress as their favourite character and join the adventure at libraries including Oxford Central Library and Cowley Library.

At Waterstones in Broad Street budding sorcerers will learn their Wingardium Leviosa from their Expecto Patronum under the guidance of Paul Harris, the choreographer of wand combat for the Harry Potter movies. Events are also being held in Didcot and Banbury.
