Village causes
Sir – After a recent charity event held in a prosperous West Oxfordshire village, the organiser was interviewed on local TV where he confidently, perhaps even proudly, stated that all proceeds would go to village causes.
So have I got this right: the proceeds from a prosperous village, in one of the most affluent parts of the country, within one of the most advanced economies in the world, is all being given back to the village? How sad.
