A PILE of car tyres that were set on fire near Redbridge Hollow in Oxford have been cleared.
It is understood up to 100 tyres were set alight in Old Abingdon Road and emergency services are on the scene.
Despite the fire being extinguished, drivers are still facing heavy delays and queues of traffic are backing up the Abingdon Road.
A driver who was stuck in traffic said officers had cordoned off the road between the Southern Bypass and Abingdon Road.
He added: "There is smoke everywhere. The traffic is really heavy.
"They have closed the road near the tip area and they have officers at either end."
Thames Valley Police has not yet provided replies to the Oxford Mail's questions.
