A BODY found at Iffley Lock today is believed to be that of missing man Frank Rothnie.

Mr Rothnie, 54, was last seen at around 12.45am on Sunday, November 15.

Thames Valley Police said a member of the public reported something in the water at Iffley Lock at around 10.30am this morning.

The body has not been formally identified but police believe it is Mr Rothnie and his next of kin have been informed.

Lee Mahon, 40, was landlord of the Castle Tavern pub in Oxford from 2010 to 2012 when Mr Rothnie was a regular.

He said: "It is kind of expected after the last few weeks but until you find out you always have that hope.

"He was just a cheerful, lovely guy and always had lots of stories to tell.

"He was a very social person and always had a smile on his face. I think a lot of people will be quite shocked.

"I had not seen him for about a year but would bump into him in the town occasionally and he was always the same – smiling and talking 10 to the dozen."
