TWO forms of art collided at the Vale and Downland Museum in Wantage at an exhibition created by artist Lin Kerr and inspired by her daughter Mega, a writer.
Rope of Words is made up of 14 separate paintings telling the story of a woman and her lover. Ms Kerr, from Chilton, near Didcot, was inspired by Henri Matisse’s bright cut-outs and simple ‘floating’ shapes. She chose to use colour symbolically to represent the woman’s mood.
Museum facilities and business manager Kate Pozzoli said: “The story is about a woman and her lover who collected words. The woman lost both her words and her lover and spends the rest of the story looking for them.”
Ms Kerr said: “My mother loved words and both my daughter and I share that love.
“I went on my own journey and photographed mangrove roots in Singapore, studied duck feathers in Oxford and learnt about anvils.”
