I WAS interested to see the picture of Iffley church bellringers (Memory Lane online, September 14). I was also a bellringer at Iffley in the 1950s and early 1960s.
In the photograph you published of the ringers’ 1977 outing. Roy Goodwin is on the left, Jim Adams is third from the left, and on the far right is Laurie Busby.
While I was at Iffley, we also went on day trips to ring at other towers. One was to the Mendip hills in Somerset and others to the Dorking area of Surrey and to Burton-on-Trent.
I am enclosing a photograph from the 1950s of Jim Adams, and one from Cowley St James ringing band with Walt Furn, Roy Goodwin, and the tower captain Mr Holloway and his wife.
I am sorry about the quality of the photographs – they were taken with my first camera, a box Kodak.
In Oxford, I would go to practice nights at Iffley, Cowley St James, Wolvercote and Sunningwell.
It would be so good to catch up with Jim and Roy again at bcole@adam.com.au or on Facebook, Bryan Cole/Morphett Vale
