CELEBRATIONS of the life and works of JRR Tolkien are in full swing as crowds gather for the annual Oxonmoot.
Each year, The Tolkien Society hosts the four-day event that attracts Tolkien fans from across the world to discuss the author and his works such as the Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit.
More than 200 people are expected at the 42nd Oxonmoot which ends tomorrow.
Tolkien Society chairman Shaun Gunner said: “Oxonmoot takes place to coincide with the birthdays of Bilbo and Frodo, but this year we have a record number of attendees coming to St Antony’s College to enjoy the longest-running Tolkien event in the world.”
The weekend includes talks, quizzes, exhibitions and a party, and concludes with a remembrance ceremony at Tolkien’s grave in Wolvercote Cemetery.
