I HAVE recently come across an old photograph and article in the Oxford Mail dated July 1, 1961.
The black and white picture is of my mother, Jean Morgan, and me with a Mrs J Edwards and her daughter Gwyneth, aged 11 months, in the River Thames on a hot summer’s day. We lived in Christ Church Buildings, in St Thomas’s, Oxford, and they lived in Essex Street, East Oxford.
I would love to try to trace Gwyneth and/or her mother to share the photograph and article with them. I found it quite comical reading the piece in 1961 about the weather and the volume of traffic hitting the roads around Oxford from 5am. No change there, then!
