Oxfordshire have boosted their bowling attack for Sunday's Minor Counties Trophy clash with Cambridgeshire at March Town by calling up Gloucestershire seamer Dave Burton.

Burton played for Gloucestershire against Oxford UCCE in the Parks earlier this month and is selected as part of their link with Oxon.

Oxfordshire captain Ian Hawtin said: "We are trying to improve our levels, so it is good to be able to call upon Gloucestershire players.

"We may be able to get one or two involved in championship games."

Oxfordshire have also selected off-spinner Paul McMahon, the former Oxford University captain, who was released by Nottinghamshire last year.

He has just returned from playing in Australia.

Oxford Downs batsman Chris Sandbach is also called up.

Although most players are lacking competitive action at this early stage of the season, Hawtin expects them to be sharp.

"We are looking for a positive start," he said.

The competiton is played in groups during the early stages. The other teams in Oxon's group are Bucks, Hertfordshire and Wiltshire.

Oxfordshire: Hawtin (capt, Banbury), Hole (Oxford), Hewitt (Welwyn Garden City), Haupt (Banbury), Williams (Leamington Spa), Sandbach (Oxford Downs & Oxford Brookes), Crosby (Oxford), McMahon (Wollaton), Burton (Gloucs), P Evans (Oxford), Newhook (Bourton Vale).
