I do love nature and it is so wonderful to see our native creatures come out of hibernation.

Only this week, I saw the Lesser Spotted Liberal Candidate and the Common Crested Conservative.

I really need to follow up on these wonderful creatures. Where is their natural habitat?

Why do they only come out at this time of the political cycle? Is it the mating season? Why do only the old specimens show their face?

I notice that these creatures are starting to deposit paperwork through letter boxes.

They tend to do this periodically - it would save a lot of time if they just recycled it and cut out the middle man, but they won't.

It must be a mating ritual or something of that type.

It is normally in the evening time that this elusive creature comes out.

You can hear their familiar tapping on any closed door and hear their cry of "vote for me".

I thought one was actually going to nest on my step, but I shooed the little pest away.

I also tried to capture one to find out what it had done over the past few years, but it scurried away squawking excuses and blaming others and within five minutes, I could hear its faint tapping on another door.

We also have to be very careful of the damage that these creatures can do.

We allowed them to nest in Abingdon for a while and they have completely destroyed the traffic system and a few businesses are under pressure - are these species protected?

Can anyone tell me if there is an appreciation society for these seldom seen creatures, apart from their own created dens?

I would definitely like to see more of them in their natural environment and if I could see them doing any work of worth, I would be ecstatic.

However, I am 48 so I think it is a bit late for me.

Nature is indeed wonderful.
