A RAPIST who treated a woman like a sex slave has been jailed.

Karl Stoute was told he will spend at least six and a half years in prison after being convicted at Oxford Crown Court yesterday.

It took jurors less than three hours to find the 20-year-old guilty of three rapes, two assaults and one count of causing a person to engage in a sexual activity.

Recorder Peter Clarke said he had seen no evidence Stoute cared about what misery he had inflicted on his victim.

During the trial the prosecution said Stoute kept the woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, as a form of a sex slave.

Recorder Clarke said: "There are a lot of girls out there who are in serious danger and the public need protection from you."

The trial last week heard Stoute carried out a degrading and humiliating ordeal on the victim.

The woman told the jury Stoute repeatedly punched and kicked her and stamped on her stomach three times.

Stoute also attacked her with a sword and knife, then locked her in a cupboard. She was forced to urinate in a bucket, she added.

She sobbed as she gave details of being raped by Stoute on three occasions.

The court was told doctors found bruises to her face, left temple, forehead, chin, upper abdomen, both arms and back. Recorder Clarke said: "Worst of all, you still don't care. I have watched and watched over the days to see if there's any remorse, any knowledge of what you did to that girl.

"But all I can see is contempt and I can sense it now as I'm talking to you.

"At the moment you think that it is cool and the way to behave, but I do pray in the course of the sentence you learn it isn't."

Stoute had earlier pleaded guilty to two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm.

Stoute, formerly of Brampton Road, Barton, Oxford, was handed an indeterminate sentence and must serve at least six-and-a-half years before being eligible for release.

A letter was passed to the judge from prison security staff outlining bad behaviour by Stoute while in custody.

Recorder Clarke also criticised Stoute's behaviour in court during the trial.
