A COLOURFULLY dressed contingent from Oxford's Sikh community celebrated the festival of Vaisakhi with a procession through the city on Saturday.
Members of the Sikh temple in Cherwell Drive, Marston, were joined by supporters from Banbury, Slough and local villages for the annual event in their religious calendar.
Led by traditional musicians and drumbeaters, the 150-strong procession made its way from Cheney School in Headington to The Plain and back.
Pargan Singh Mattu, president of the Oxford Siri Guru Singh Sarka group, said: "We had a very positive response and the weather was wonderful. It will definitely become an annual event."
