The Lexus LS 460 has been named World Car of the Year 2007 by a group of international journalists at the New York International Auto Show.
The LS 460 was the top choice from a list of 28 contenders and beat off competition in the final stages of voting from both the Audi TT and Mini. Judges from 22 nations said the Lexus is: "The embodiment of the Lexus brand's motto - the pursuit of perfection. Classically luxurious, with modern execution, unquestioned quality and more than ample power."
They were also impressed with the fact that Lexus intends to launch a hybrid version, the LS 600h, soon.
The World Car of the Year Awards programme was established in 2003 and officially launched in January 2004. Last year's winner was the BMW 3 Series.
