A BOY remains in hospital after being assaulted in Abingdon last night, police have said.

Thames Valley Police said they were called to Drayton Park Golf Club, in Steventon Road, at 11.30pm after a fight had broken out between a large group of people.

They said the disorder resulted in an 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy sustaining injuries and being taken to hospital.

The 16-year-old boy remains in hospital while the 18-year-old man has been discharged.

A 24-year-old man from Oxford and a 21-year-old man from London have been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent, and are currently in custody.

Investigating officer, Det Insp Mike Roddy from Force CID based at Abingdon, said: “It appears that there was a dispute between a group of people who were all known to each other and during the altercation, two people sustained injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening.

“We believe that a black Range Rover may have been in the area during the offence and we would also like to trace the driver of this vehicle to speak to them.

“We are in the early stages of our investigation into what happened, but two people are currently in custody. Officers are in the area today conducting enquiries and if anyone has any concerns I would urge them to speak to officers or to call police on 101 for advice.

“I would like to speak to anyone who saw or heard the events in Steventon Road last night. Please contact me via the 101 number or via Crimestoppers.”
