Tribute: Oxford Cheetahs’ star speedway rider Arne Pander
I WOULD like to say thanks to the Oxford Mail for your recent tribute to our original Great Dane Arne Pander.
Although I only caught the tail end of his career, I am told by my older brother that he was the finest rider ever to grace the Cowley shale, until Les Owen of Coventry nearly killed him – robbing him of being a certain world champion.
Thankfully Oxford got their Danish world champion two decades later in the form of Hans Nielsen!
RIP Arne and thank you!
