A pensioner was pulled from a house fire in Rose Hill on Friday.

Fire crews were called at 10am after an alarm went off. When they arrived, officers went inside and could see smoke and hear the woman calling for help.

Two fire-fighters helped her get to a place of safety before the fire, which was started after an electrical fault, was extinguished using a hosereel. The woman was treated at the scene by paramedics for smoke inhalation.

Incident commander Will McPhail said “The working smoke alarm within the property undoubtedly saved the resident’s life.”
