'Three new community noticeboards have gone up in Cowley, Oxford, to tell residents what is going on in their area.

They are the first such information boards to go up in the Temple Cowley and Cowley Marsh wards and have been paid for by Oxford City Council's Cowley area committee.

Saj Malik, councillor for the Cowley Marsh ward, said: "We have a Cowley festival and lots of other activities but people in the area find it difficult to find out what's going on.

"We have an area committee meeting every month so we can put where and when it is on the boards. And anyone who wishes to advertise their event can contact the management of the Regal Community Centre, in Ridgefield Road, where one of the boards is."

People can also contact the Old Temple Cowley Residents' Association and ask for event details to be put on the board at the Temple Cowley swimming pools.

The third noticeboard is at Marsh Park, which Mr Malik said was used by lots of people.

Mr Malik said: "In Temple Cowley and Cowley Marsh, we have got a great community, so this is a positive way to inform the community what's going on."

To put events on the boards, call the Regal Community Centre on 01865 242198 or contact Trevor Williams, chairman of Old Temple Cowley Residents' Association, on 01865 773014./sed by lots of people.
