I think I've got it.

The GREEN recycling BOX takes glass bottles and jars (rinsed), newspapers, magazine and WHITE office paper.

It does not take broken or sheet glass, plastics, cardboard, envelopes, directories, food and drink cartons and cans.

The BLUE recycling BOX takes plastic, bottles, aluminium drinks cans, food tins, envelopes, cards, directories and paper not suitable for the GREEN BOX.

But it does NOT take glass, food/drink cartons, plastic food packaging, plastic bags, yoghurt cartons, plant pots, trays, general plastic items or aerosols.

The GREEN BAG is the place to put grass cuttings, hedge trimmings, garden prunings, leaves, small shrubs, plants, weeds, cut flowers and branches not more than 7.5cm (three inches) in diameter, but does not take a large number of other things.

More or less everything else goes into the GREEN wheelie BIN.

Of course, everything depends on whether or not it is a WHITE or ORANGE collection week.

If WHITE, then only the BLUE recycling BOX and GREEN waste BAG need to be put out.

If ORANGE, then it's the turn of the GREEN wheelie BIN and GREEN recycling BOX.

Simple really.
