Three Oxfordshire artists - Marie Robinson, Sarah Moncrieff and Alan Thomas - are exhibiting their work at the Said Business School at the moment. Each one has taken up art as a second career, but although they meet regularly to discuss their work, each has an entirely different style.

Alan Thomas, who enjoyed a long career in the army, calls on the richness and intensity of the colours and patters of the Indian countryside and fabrics for his inspiration. His works are abstract and tactile. Using acrylics on board, some, such as Rajasthan Land offers green upon green upon green. Strident lines criss-cross the canvas to break up blocks of vibrant colour. He calls for colours from the complete palette for Coloured Crops (pictured).

Using oil on canvas, Marie Robinson gives us order and disorder. Reflecting the cafeteria-style environment of the Said exhibition space, her work is a response to eating and drinking - hence the collections of spoons, the coffee mugs and the chairs. Actually they are great fun and show just what an artist can do with such simple everyday objects. Her picture The Chair is a great example of how chairs really can furnish a canvas.

Sarah Moncrieff expresses herself through large urban landscapes some of which are in charcoal, others in oil. All make much of black upon white. They are a bold attempt to express the hidden beauty we often overlook in areas we may wish to ignore. The exhibition, entitled Inside Outside and Beyond, continues until April 14.
