Sir - The Cowley Road has been splendidly refurbished and improved, culminating in the opening of the new health centre, with the local pharmacy moving into the health centre.
Further east, the temporary health centre at Cowley has closed, and Boots in Cowley Centre no longer dispenses prescriptions. The bus stop almost opposite the new health centre has also been closed, and so has the one opposite Tesco.
There is now no bus stop between the old bingo hall and James Street, a distance of 700 yards. In Summertown and the High Street, bus stops are 250 yards apart.
As far as I can make out, the reason for closing these bus stops must have been to speed up traffic, whereas one of the main reasons for the refurbishment as a whole was to slow down traffic.
