The Marquess of Blandford yesterday lost a bid to keep secret the fact he has been charged with dangerous driving and had a warrant out for his arrest.
The Duke of Malborough's son Charles Spencer- Churchill was charged with the offence after an incident in January on the A4260 near Deddington, Thames Valley Police said.
Last week, Banbury magistrates granted a temporary order preventing reporting anything about the case, but district judge Brian Loosley, sitting at Oxford Magistrates' Court yesterday, refused to extend the order.
His barrister Paul Jackson told magistrates another case of dangerous driving could be affected by any publicity on this latest charge.
Spencer-Churchill, 51, was due to appear before magistrates accused of dangerous driving, but did not attend. Magistrates issued a warrant for his arrest.
He said he started off for court but was running late, and when he heard there was a warrant out for his arrest, panicked and went home, before returning to court the next day. Spencer-Churchill, of Wootton, near Woodstock, was fined £50.
