OXFORD racing driver Tim Harvey was in dominant form as he won twice in the opening two rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Brands Hatch.

Harvey was racing for Red Line Racing in the prestigious race series for identical 400 horsepower, 170mph racing Porsches, which is a key support race to the MSA British Touring Car Championship. His Porsche is backed by Nationwide Crash Repair Centre, Datapulse and Porsche Centre Solihull.

The first two rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB ran in bright spring conditions at Brands Hatch as key support races to the MSA British Touring Car Championship.

It was a perfect weekend for Harvey, who won both races in commanding style. However, behind Harvey there was plenty of fine racing throughout the field as a packed crowd watched the action.

"The car feels great and it's good to be back racing after the winter lay-off. I was very pleased with qualifying," he said after setting the fastest ever Carrera Cup lap of Brands Hatch. "We wanted to be on the front row of the grid.

"The first race was very straightforward. I didn't make the best of starts, but I stayed ahead at the first corner and did some good laps early on to build up a gap. You always hope for a good start to the season, and that was it. In the second race they were a lot closer to me and I had to keep up the pace. To win both races is a perfect start to the season and the team has done a fantastic job with the car."

The Carrera Cup season continues at the Rockingham circuit near Corby in Northamptonshire on April 21/22.
