WATCH very closely – this timepiece could be worth big money.
This antique pocket watch was among dozens of valuables offered up for an estimate at a valuation day in Abingdon this week.
Lockdales auctioneers said more than 100 visitors turned up at its event from 11am to 3pm at Abingdon’s Four Pillars hotel on Monday.
The Ipswich-based company invited people to bring coins, tokens, stamps, banknotes, medals, swords, deactivated weapons, gold, silver, watches, books and maps.
And it said it would be offering cash on the spot for anything it particularly liked the look of.
Valuer Tony Hall said: “We were very busy on the day with fine coins, medals, antique silver, jewellery, wristwatches and pocket watches being consigned and purchased.
“We always enjoy meeting customers old and new in the Oxfordshire area.”
The company said it could not say how many purchases it made at the event.
