A MAN has been arrested after a teenager was assaulted at a funfair in Witney, police said.

Officers said the 16-year-old boy was punched in the face after a man approached him and started an argument.

He was left with bruising on his face but did not need hospital treatment.

The attack was at the Leys playing fields at about 9.30pm on Saturday.

The attacker then walked off in the direction of Church Green.

Police described the attacker as white, in his late teens, about 5ft 7ins, slim, with blonde or mousey coloured hair, which is short at the sides with a side parting on top.

He was wearing blue jeans, red trainers and a dark green waterproof coat.

Pc Duncan Wooloff said: “I would appeal to anyone with any information about this unprovoked and violent assault to contact police immediately via 101.

“Perhaps you recognise the description of the offender, saw the offence or have some information about the incident, if you do then please make contact.”

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and released on police bail until May 30.
