A 22-year-old female was attacked by another woman at a pub in Carterton, police said.

The victim was at the bar of the Golden Eagle pub in Black Bourton Road at about 1.40am on Sunday when another woman started to verbally abuse her.

Officers said the attacker then assaulted her, pulling her hair and leaving her with bruising and scratches.

She managed to push the attacker away before leaving the pub. She did not need hospital treatment.

Police described the attacker as white, in her early 20s, about 5ft 6ins, medium to large build, with shoulder length brown or ginger hair.

She was wearing a navy top with beige polker dots.

Officers believe she may have been with a group of three other women.
