Henry Pavlovich is former chief executive of the Institute of Linguists, who lives in Cholsey, near Wallingford. His novel, Worlds Apart (Lulu, £12.17), which started out as a memoir, is based on first-hand accounts of wartime labour camps, and on his own life in a UK refugee camp.
