A CYCLIST has been taken to hospital after they collided with a van at the junction of George Street and Worcester Street.
South Central Ambulance Service spokeswoman Catherine Morrow said they were called at 1.59pm to a crash involving a van and a cyclist.
She added: “We sent one ambulance crew and a rapid response vehicle and one patient was taken to the John Radcliffe hospital with a possible arm injury.”
Stagecoach tweeted saying: “Due to an RTC at junction of George street and Worcester street Oxford there are delays in the area until road is cleared.”
The re-designed junction between Worcester Street, Hythe Bridge Street and George Street had been criticised by national charity The Cyclist’s Touring Club.
Cyclists approaching the junction from Hythe Bridge Street can go straight on into George Street ignoring a ‘left-turn only’ sign which only applies to drivers.
New road markings were added as a result.
