Sir – I refer to your article Busking order online petition wins support of 3,000 people (March 9). Yes so it might, but of course so many jump on the bandwagon on this type of anonymous petition and many, I suspect, have never been within 20 miles of our beautiful city.
I have found visitors shocked at these ‘so called’ buskers with their very loud, amplified music and have witnessed tour guides, who are trying to welcome visitors and describe the history and beauty of our city, having to give up to these selfish, self-obsessed people.
Yes, the city council is right to ‘license’ and control these people because it is really getting out of hand, especially because visitors have a right to learn about our ancient city, which is what encourages them to come and spend their money with local businesses.
