THREE men who may have had a gun stole cigarettes from a van driver near Oxford, police said.

Officers said three men wearing balaclavas robbed a driver at about 7.30am this morning in Mill Street, Stanton St John.

Police said he was threatened and cigarettes were stolen.

The men drove away in a dark-coloured vehicle, which may possibly have been an Audi or a similar style of saloon.

Det Ch Insp Mark Johns said: “A team of detectives is currently dealing with the incident and officers will be carrying out high visibility patrols in the area.

“The offenders are described as wearing balaclavas and may have possibly been carrying a firearm.”

“I would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened or saw anything which could assist with our investigation.

“There were people in the area at the time of the incident and I would appeal to those who have not already spoken to the police to approach an officer in the area or call police on 101.”
